The Eastern European labour market has been characterised in the last two decades by a strong emigration phenomenon. The Romanian labour market makes no exception: just within the member states of the EU almost three million Romanian citizens have found work, according to the latest official statistics. The United Kingdom is the most popular country for Romanians looking for work abroad. Indeed, Tjobs.ro monthly statistics show a growing interest in British job positions. An online survey conducted by Tjobs.ro corroborates its applicants’ desire to work in the United Kingdom.
(01/02/2012) Tîrgu-Mureş, MUREŞ County, ROMANIA
A total of 16,729 job positions abroad are available on www.tjobs.ro as of 01/02/2012, in 51 industry sectors and 39 countries. Moreover, a total of 47,889 applications were recorded on the Tjobs.ro recruitment system, during the reporting period 29/11/2011 – 05/02/2012, United Kingdom representing 20% of the online applications.
The 2,875 UK job vacancies are advertised through Tjobs.ro, which is part of the same group together with TjobsRecruit, TjobsRecruit being the largest recruitment system in Central and Eastern Europe. The ‘T’ stands for ‘trusted’.
2,835 of the vacant positions are advertised for England, 20 for Scotland and 20 for Wales.
22,67pc of the active job ads refer to Romanian medical personnel, 20,00pc seek to recruit HoReCa Romanian personnel and other 20,00pc address to Romanian young babysitters.
UK positioned itself since 2011 as the main recruiter of Romanian staff, as the Tjobs.ro database shows it. In 2012 recruitment agencies will continue hiring more Romanians on behalf of British employers who tend to demand more and more Romanian workers. This may be the main reason why the UK demand is in constant rise.
Romanian workers' qualities mainly influence the British employers' choice: hardworking, quickly adaptable to new working and social environments, speak English fluently and most importantly very experienced in their field of activities.
Romanian workers have developed their working skills rapidly in the last 20 years, being constantly attentive to the British employers' needs. And this is the most important quality that helps one survive in the nowadays international working environment. To these we should add the 20-year-working-abroad experience that Romanians know how to use in their favor and that British employers highly appreciate, as the numbers of monthly recruitment show.
